A Dark Ambient Soundscape From Ian Mellish.
Playing With Henry 1 is the latest of an occasional ongoing series of works based on the collection 'Fantajias & In Nomines For Strings' by Henry Purcell.
The track is 72 minutes long and continuallly plays with no breaks. The track changes throughout so it is best to listen to all the samples that are played by the sample player.
Mainly dark ambient in tone the track is relaxing yet questioning.
Started in 1988 the series so far consists of 15 pieces, including several for tape & works for various small ensembles.
Tuning:
There are 15 voices, each turned to an individual setting. A new line voice entry is written in at every bar with a prime number. The voices are introduced one at a time. the voice tuned '0' at bar 1m, the next tuned -5 cents. After the fifteenth entry additional lines are played by one of the previous voices.
