Phillip Jons is a classical pianist, composer, arranger, studio engineer, and recording artist. Born in Chicago, Illinois he began his musical studies in the seventh grade. While a late bloomer by Music standards, he nonethless quickly excelled. Soon he was playing the fugues of Bach, the sonatas of beethoven, and brahms. But his love was for the music of Chopin and Rachmaninoff, a love that still burns today. |

While as a pianist, his music of choice is classical, his love of music is not bound by any genre. Heavy Metal, Grunge, Psytrance, Gospel, Blues, jazz, Hip Hop, Trance, New Age, acoustic, .....all are just different dialects of the same language. Music.
Approached by the son of a massage therapist who was in desperate need of music for her sessions, Phillip set out to write a CD that could be both unobtrusive in a massage therapy session, yet musically interesting which could capture and hold the attention of a more attentive listener. "Timescapes" was the result. |
While not his first cd where he recorded orchestral arrangements ( he produced 3 cd's with his student choir at a Catholic parish where he was music director, and Music teacher), this was his first as a composer. His first two Cds ("Before the Sunrise", and "Thoughts and Afterthoughts- a collection of piano minuatures") were piano solos.
He continues to experiment in new directions and with the use of the new technology and instruments available to him, he will be releasing his fourth CD: "Aether"during the summer. |
