An Interview with Lazy Hammock

Lazy Hammock is Lucie Burns from London (when not in hot climates gathering inspiration). As we found out she is a busy person so were pleased she gave her time to give us some responses to our questions and tells us about creating a harmonious environment and her plans to complete her first album.
Q: When did you start making music and what first influenced you?
I started making music at a very young age. When I was about 3yrs old, I think there was a program called music time which I used to play my chime
bars and my triangle along to. I was bought my first album when I was 10, it
was Diana Ross, I think I played it until it wore out. Then when Sade came
along, her musical formula took me to another level, I absolutely loved the
chilled grooves of her songs. She constantly inspired me.
Q: How did that progress into you making your own music?
Well, I just wanted to write the sort of music I loved listening to. I
took classical piano lessons from the age of 8, but didn't really enjoy the
theory side, so started using what I knew to make up my own songs and music.
I wrote my first song when I was 12 and haven't stopped since. Sometimes I used to write up to 3 songs a day.
Q: How does music fit into your life now?
You should ask 'How does life fit into my music?'
Music is a part of me, a part of my make up. I'm involved in so many
different projects because I like doing different things. I have this, the
Lazy Hammock project which I absolutely love. I really enjoy the process of
writing tunes that take people to another place.
When I'm writing, it needs to resonate inside of me and connect on a deep level before I know its ready for the public to hear. I have my own soulful funky band, 'Kyoto Moon' which I front and write all the songs for. The live element is great.
Uplifting and inspiring people is what feeds me, it's my nourishment.I'm also writing and singing for other producers.
Q: Where do you want to take your music from here? Do you have a view of a path at all?

Yes, my main aim, as I mentioned before is to 'Uplift and Inspire' people. I intend to keep writing tunes that take people to that place. I'm currently writing a Lazy Hammock album, which will include instrumental and vocal tracks. I also intend to write for TV and films, and release more albums with producers under different project names.
Q: How do you see your music working within a therapeutic environment?
I see my music really working well in a therapeutic environment, as it works on two levels:- It is calming and soothing to listen to just as music,
but it also has a much deeper element to it when blended with therapeutic
and healing work, as it takes people on a journey and can also aid them in
their own self discovery. Our environment is a reflection of self and we
are one with our environment, so it is imperative to create a harmonious
environment in which to become one with. This is what I aim to do through my
music.
Thank you Lucie.
