Collothen aka Colten Williams is an up and coming composer who has currently been releasing ambient and experimental electronic music. Colten’s primary focus is writing and composing music for film and tv projects although he has an on going passion for ambient and experimental electronic music.
Colten has been writing and composing various types of music for the last 10 years, which mostly includes hard rock band “Vihara”. Colten played guitar and programmed for the band which he started w/ younger brother Austin for about 5 years. The band released their debut album “Stand Fast” in the spring of 06’ and is called “A solidly well produced album, that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of catchy choruses, abrupt changes, and many different moods from heavy to mellow, sweet to psychotic, and everywhere in between” (cdbaby.com) After the band decided to take a much deserved break Colten decided to focus full time on his electronic composing and studied at the Art Institute of Vancouver, for film scoring and post production work.
Collothen recently released “Translation” with Vancouver based electronic label “Xynthetic Music” in early July 2008. “Collothen presents five ambient pieces that shift between spacious melodies, static drones and subdued rhythms. It’s a perfect summer night come down”. (Xynthetic)
This release is full of soundscapes and melodies perfectly fit for therapeutic and meditation purposes, which will find a happy home here at Ambient Music Garden.
